The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said the movement of trucks on four national roads was banned in connection with the heavy snowfall. The decision was taken by the commission for local emergencies convened in Cahul district, IPN reports.
The four roads are: Cahul-Giurgiulesti, Balaban-Cahul, Burlaceni-Vulcanesti, and Slobozia Mare-Vulcanesti. The move is aimed at preventing the blocking of trucks and at avoiding situations of risk.
According to rescuers’ reports, owing to the elements, people in 20 villages of Cahul, Leova and Basarabeasca districts and of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia remained without electricity.
