Three Romanian citizens were arrested on suspicion of recruiting virgin girls, especially from Moldova, and then selling them to rich EU citizens for sexual exploitation. According to Mediafax, the alleged pimps were earning up to €10000 per girl, who would consequently receive €300 to €500 for sexual services, reports Info-Prim Neo.
The three individuals were “ordering virgins” in Moldova, for whom they paid €3000, and in Bucharest the trafficking group got up to €10000 per girl. The recruiting targets were young female students, who participated in different modeling contests. Once trafficked, they would end up in the hands of rich people in Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, and the United Arab Emirates.
The suspects – the wife of a former Romanian public official, her sister, and a taxi driver who worked with them – are remanded until all the circumstances of the case are elucidated, or until a new decision of the Romanian tribunal.
