Ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu, currently president of honor of the National Unity Party (PUN), said the PUN will cooperate with the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) whenever it is possible. He made such a statement in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
In connection with the parliamentary elections that will take place in Moldova this year, Traian Basescu said the PUN is ready to cooperate with the parties of Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase and also with segments of civil society that would be welcomed alongside the National Unity Party. “If there are conditions, we can create an open national unity platform with the involvement of the intellectuality, which would not want to enlist in parties, but would agree to support the unionist idea,” said the former President.
Traian Basescu also said that the PUN has held no talks so far, but this does not mean that it will refuse to cooperate with unionist parties. “For now our objective is to strengthen the National Unity Party as the newest party on the political arena of the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.
