The Government created the Transplant Agency that will coordinate the donation and transplantation activities at national level, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The previous Governments also made attempts to institutionalize the given activities, but for reasons that have not been made public, the given initiatives have been stopped.
Under the Government's decision, the Agency will be responsible for the creation of the National Transplant Register that will contain information about the transportation, keeping and transplantation of organs, tissues and human cells.
A sum of 1.3 million lei will be allocated from the budget for financing the Agency's work.
Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said 20 patients will benefit from renal transplantation every year. About 1 million lei will be saved as these persons will not need costly kidney dialysis anymore. He also said that the Agency will ensure equal access to transplantation services and will establish cooperation relations with similar foreign organizations.
