The average cost of a day of hospital treatment for a person infected with the novel coronavirus is of 2,225 lei. If the patient is in intensive care, the costs rise to 5,300 lei, President Igor Dodon stated after the meeting of the Single Command Center.
The official said the sums include the testing and ambulance transportation costs. As the treatment at the hospital lasts for 14 days, the treatment of a patient with COVID-19 costs 32,000 lei or 78,000 lei in case of patients in critical condition.
President Dodon said everyone should know about these costs, including those who criticize the decision that obliges everyone to purchase a health insurance policy.
As many as 505 people have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in Moldova so far. The death toll from COVID-19 rose to six.
