A tree that was downed by the wind damaged a car in Buiucani district of Chisinau. Another downed tree fell over a minibus in Râșcani district. Sixteen trees were downed by high winds in the municipality of Chisinau in total. A tree also downed a billboard, IPN reports.
Sergey Carp, director of the municipal Green Areas Association, said there were no persons inside the motor vehicles on which trees fell. Most of the downed trees were growing in Centru and Botanica districts.
The downed trees were taken to the association. They will be cut and the wood will be given to families in need, under an order made by the mayor of Chisinau.
Sergey Carp warned the citizens to park the cars at a distance from trees, especially when the weather is windy.
