Trust and understanding promoted through football

The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, the British Embassy in Chisinau, the "Spirit of Soccer" NGO and the Moldovan Football Federation announce the launch of the Football – Ambassadors of Peace project 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release from the U.S. Embassy, this project will use football to promote trust and understanding and establish contacts among young people from various regions of Moldova. During the week of September 20-27, 200 boys and girls will participate in a football festival in Vadul lui Voda and Tiraspol. The events will take place on September 25 at the sport complex of the Moldovan Football Federation in Vadul lui Voda, and on September 26 at FC Sheriff Complex in Tiraspol. As part of the festival, participants will take part in a variety of skills clinics and friendly matches. The matches will be played under FIFA’s ‘’Fair Play’’ philosophy: teams will have a pre-match meeting and, playing without a referee, agree to be fair and make mutually acceptable decisions on disputed moments of the match. There will be also a friendly football match featuring a joint team of British and U.S. Embassy staff against the Moldovan Football Federation’s team.
