A team of two American healthcare professionals from the North Carolina National Guard, Colonel Mauldin and Captain Carrington, are visiting Moldova from June 8-14 to train medical practitioners from a number of public institutions, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova.
The public institutions include the Ministry of Defense, the Nursing College, the Moldovan Nursing Association, and the Ministry of Health. Colonel Mauldin and Captain Carrington will assist in the development of a program that will teach Basic Life Support and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. The training will take place at the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun.” On Wednesday, June 11, United States Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Kara McDonald will visit the Academy and take part in the practical application session.
This project was launched in March 2013, when five American nurses/healthcare professionals visited Moldova to introduce procedures and techniques of the U.S. Nursing Corps in support of the North Carolina/Moldova State Partnership Program. The program was established in 1995 and is overseen by the U.S. Embassy's Office of Defense Cooperation.
