Two children, young woman killed in weekend traffic accidents

Three persons were killed and 33 injured in accidents that happened on the national roads last weekend, Info-Prim Neo reports. Tudor Capatana, spokesman for the Traffic Police Division, said two boys lost their lives in an accident on the road that connects the villages Obileni and Nemteni, while the third boy was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. The three boys were traveling on a bicycle, when they were struck by a Volkswagen driven by a 23-year-old resident of Balauresti village of Nisporeni district. The injured boy was taken to hospital with an open cranial-cerebral trauma and other injuries. The breath test showed the driver did not consume alcohol, but the man admitted that he drank a beer several hours before the accident. The circumstances of the accident are being established. A Mitsubishi Lancer overturned on the Brest-Chisinau-Odessa road ,near Edinet town. There were three adults and two children in the car. A woman aged 26 died on the spot. The 34-year-old driver suffered an open cranial-cerebral trauma and a concussion. The children aged six and two sustained associated traumas, concussions and cranial-cerebral traumas. Another passenger – a woman aged 24 – received minor injuries. Speeding was the case of nine of the 20 road accidents that occurred on the weekend. A number of 139 persons have been killed in car accidents in Moldova since the start of this year.
