The Chisinau-based National College of Winegrowing and Winemaking and the Public Institution “Taul Agricultural College” will be reorganized into centers of excellence. The two colleges are managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, IPN reports.

The Ministry said the Center of Excellence in Winemaking and Winegrowing of Chisinau will be created based on the National College of Winegrowing and Winemaking, which is the oldest education institution in wine industry of Moldova and which in 2017 will celebrate the 175th anniversary of its foundation. The College was and is a real ‘forge shop’ of staff in wine industry, which is strategically located in the immediate vicinity of Chisinau municipality. This will help Moldova develop its tourism potential.

The Center of Excellence in Horticulture and Agricultural Technologies of Taul will be founded based on the Agricultural College, which, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, is one of the most prestigious education institutions in northern Moldova. This institution trains staff for applicative activities in horticulture and technology of food products.

The centers of excellence that are to be created will represent technical vocational education institutions with increased potential that will run combined professional formation programs and will develop capacities in their areas of competence. The centers of excellence will practice dual education, when training is received at the education institution, while practical experience is obtained at the company.
