Two dorms to be fully renovated

Two student dormitories, one managed by the Moldova State University and another one managed by “Ion Creangă” State Teacher Training University, will be extensively renovated. The money will be allocated as a result of an amendment approved by the Government to the Financing Agreement for the World Bank-supported Moldova Higher Education Project, IPN reports.

According to the project, investments totaling €4.6 million will be made. In addition to the extensive renovation of the two dormitories, the internationalization of the country’s universities will also be financed. More specifically, the accreditation of 16 programs in English, improvement of the English language skills for 300 teachers, designing of curricular support and teaching materials in accordance with international standards will be ensured.

“In order to attract more foreign students and strengthen the financial capacities of our universities, we will support the internationalization efforts of higher education institutions. We will give priority to teaching specialties, engineering, information technologies, veterinary medicine. The main beneficiaries of these investments will be four large universities situated in Chisinau,” said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun.

The Moldova Higher Education Project is implemented by the Ministry of Education and is financed by the World Bank during 2020-2025. The total value of the project is over €35,000. Within the project, seven higher education institutions and six teacher training colleges of the country benefit from modernization of the infrastructure of institutions and programs of study according to the labor market needs.
