Two foreign officials paying visits to Moldova

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin and Head of the Swedish Parliament Per Westerberg are in Moldova on visits today, September 2, IPN reports.

Rogozin was invited to come to Chisinau by his counterpart Valeriu Lazar. The two officials will discuss the Moldovan-Russian bilateral relations, especially aspects related to trade, and the energy agenda. Tomorrow, Dmitri Rogozin will go to Tiraspol to take part in a ceremony to lay the foundations of a hospital that will be built with Russian funds. He will meet with Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk there.

While in Chisinau, Swedish Speaker Per Westerberg will have discussions with President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Foreign Affairs Minister Natalia Gherman. He will also meet with heads of parliamentary groups.

Last year, the Parliament of Sweden launched a priority cooperation program with the Moldovan legislature with a view to promoting and strengthening parliamentary democracy.
