Two former employees of ”Ion Creanga” University investigated for embezzlement

The General Prosecutor’s Office took legal action against two persons that had held important positions at the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” in Chisinau, suspected of embezzlement, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office, the inquiries revealed that the former deputy dean and the chair of the Department of Psychology and Psycho-Pedagogy of the university committed illegalities in their didactic activity. The women are suspected of including more lectures in the timetable during 2006 – 2007 in order to benefit from higher salaries. According to the prosecutors, the lecturers received salaries for 358 lessons that they did not teach. The investigation is carried out by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. Earlier, the Prosecutor’s Office instituted legal proceedings against the two employees of the university over abuse of power. Then, the prosecutors established that the two lecturers covered their children that were part-time students of the university, but did not attend as they were abroad.
