Two friends killed in house fire

Two men from Caracui village of Hancesti district lost their lives in a fire that started in the house of one of them this morning, April 12. Diana Turcanu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the firefighters were alerted by a neighbor at about 6am. The fire destroyed the house almost completely. The 43-year-old owner of the house and his friend aged 49 died from carbon monoxide poisoning, suffering also burns. The firefighters presume the fire was caused by a smoldering cigarette or it started because the men did not obey the rules of using heating devices. According to villagers, the house owner’s wife went to work abroad about half a year ago. His daughter went overseas three months ago and the man lived alone. The 699 fires that occurred in Moldova so far this year resulted in the death of 66 persons, five of whom children.
