Last week’s rainstorms have ravaged the capital city. Over 140 trees were downed, and around 15 vehicles damaged. Two people were hospitalized, and several families woke up without a roof. The data was presented on Monday, July 16, at the City Hall meeting, reports Info-Prim Neo. Head of the Green Spaces department Eliferii Haruta said that the number of trees destroyed would most likely increase, because calls reporting new cases were still incoming. Public workers removed damaged trees and branches till 3am yesterday and resumed their work at 7am today. Municipal housing and public amenities division head Petru Gontea told Info-Prim Neo that the rain water flooded several houses, which are already being cleaned by specialized teams. Meanwhile, the wind tore down several roofs. The worst such case happened on July 10, when the wind uncovered four apartments and the roof fell over 4 cars. Head of the Healthcare Division Luminita Suveica said that a man from Chisinau and a woman from Vadul lui Voda were hospitalized, after being hit by wind-driven branches. The other departments also reported damages. The rain damaged several roads; some cracks opened and concrete segments were uncovered. The wind caused 28 tears of pipes and tore 17 cables. Citizens in several areas experienced power outages.
