Two men prevented from selling 24 kg of white mercury

Two men from Glodeni district were caught in the act of attempting to sell 24 kilograms of white mercury for about 2 million lei. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the arrested persons admitted their guilt and face three to ten years behind bars, Info-Prim Neo reports. The police established that a criminal group was selling white mercury on Moldova’s territory. The police made a control purchase that was subject to examination. It turned out to be white mercury. It was established that the mercury was smuggled into Moldova from Russia’s Sverdlovsk region. It was bought at a low price from unidentified persons who are allegedly involved in trafficking in munitions. The suspects are aged 51 and, respectively, 61. The mercury was found in the vehicle of one of the suspects, who works for a taxi company in Glodeni town. The investigations go on.
