The Moldovan law enforcement arrested two more members of a gang involved in defrauding Ukrainian soldiers. This time these are a 40-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman. According to the General Police Inspectorate, the two were detained while trying to cross the border with Romania at Cahul-Oancea.

Two days ago, eight Ukrainain nationals were detained on suspicion of swindling a group of 40 troops out of about 3 million lei by posting fake used car ads. The soldiers transferred the money in hopes of buying the vehicles, but were left without both the money and the promised cars.

There are more than 100 victims in the instances investigated by the Ukrainian authorities. More than 20 raids were conducted in Moldova and more than 10 in Ukraine. Those detained are Ukrainians who found refuge in Moldova after the war broke out in their country. The Chisinau/Ciocana Court ordered the suspects to be placed in preventive arrest for 30 days, and the Chisinau Court of Appeal upheld the decision.
