Two more children bitten by stray dogs

Two children in Chisinau were hospitalized after they had been bitten by stray dogs. The Health Division's acting head Luminita Suveica said Monday the children aged 11 and 14 were attacked on Saturday, February 27 - one on Studentilor St, while the other one on Vasile Alecsandri St. The children were taken to the hospital for treatment and are now out of danger. A resident of Ciocana district told Info-Prim Neo that she witnessed a tragic scene on Igor Vieru St in Chisinau on Sunday. A pack of more than 20 dogs tore into a dog that caught a biscuit thrown by a passerby. Recently, at the insistence of animal protection organizations, the Chisinau City Hall decided to build a shelter for stray dogs. About 1,500 dog bite cases involving 347 children were reported last year.
