A man and a woman died in a fire that broke out Monday evening in an apartment block on Grigore Vieru Blvd in Chisinau. Seven other people, including two children, were evacuated by the rescuers, IPN reports.
According to the Civil Protection Service, the fire erupted in an apartment on the third floor of the building, where the rescuers found the already dead couple. The seven evacuated people, who risked being chocked by the emanated smoke, were on the upper floors.
Three fire engines intervened shortly after the call was received at around 5:00pm. The fire was contained and extinguished within minutes.
The cause and circumstances of the fire are yet to be established.
