The Buiucani Court issued 30-day arrest warrants for two businessmen who were arrested last week on suspicion of involvement in the frauds committed at Banca de Economii (BEM). The two will be in the custody of the National Anticorruption Center, while the decision can be appealed to a higher court, IPN reports.
The two owners of oil companies are accused of illegally getting loans to the value of 160 million lei from BEM. These face a fine of up to 60,000 lei or three to eight years in jail.
Several days ago, the court ordered placing also the director of “Valiexchimp” company under arrest for 30 days. The businessman is accused of obtaining loans of 465 million lei from BEM, Banca Sociala and Unibank based on false documents. The Buiucani Court also issued a warrant for the arrest of businessman Ivan Tomaily, who is investigated as a suspect in the case of the bank frauds committed at the three banks. This was put on the wanted list.
