The Customs Service is preparing regulations concerning the transportation of unaccompanied baggage to and from Moldova. Under the draft regulations, the unaccompanied baggage taken into Moldova or out of the country will be declared in written form at the border or internal customs posts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The regulations also say that the unaccompanied baggage is declared by the driver or another empowered person based on the document issued by the sender of the goods as a proof, for example power of attorney or a contract for the provision of services. The sender will also have to personally fill out the customs declaration DV-6, to which there will be attached the copy of the sender’s passport.
The unaccompanied baggage going through internal customs posts is declared at the customs post located within the area of activity where the carrier is registered. If the documents showing the value of the goods in unaccompanied baggage are absent, the customs post determines the value based on the information it possesses, including the reference prices of the goods in foreign trade and data about the identical or similar goods that had been cleared earlier.
The Customs Service said such regulations are necessary in order to ensure the uniform declaring of unaccompanied baggage sent by private individuals from abroad and brought into Moldova by carriers, and to prevent and combat trafficking in goods.
The regulations are to come into force on February 1.
