Representatives of UNDP and of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will perform an analysis by the end of the month, to assess the situation in Moldovan agriculture. The expertise will determine the necessity and the amount of help that will be provided to farmers for planting the autumn crops, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture. The issue was discussed by Moldova’s Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov and US Ambassador to Moldova William H. Moser. The American diplomat said that he would accelerate the process of implementation of the Compact assistance program, regarding the revamping of irrigation systems in Moldova. The Minister also met the third secretary of the Japanese Embassy to Moldova with headquarters in Kiev, Yoko Tanaka. The officials discussed about possible assistance from the Japanese Government. Moldovan farmers need urgent assistance to do one of the most important works- the planting of autumn crops, which requires seeds, diesel fuel and mineral fertilizers. Other topics discussed by them were the installation of biomass boilers in 100 Moldovan villages and the progress of the second round of the 2KR project, both projects being financially supported by the Japanese Government.
