Members and supporters of the civil platform “Actiunea 2012” ask the Ministry of the Interior to ensure the peaceful development of the union march that is scheduled for Sunday, August 5, in Balti. They claim that some of the Communist Party members have threatened them with violence unless they cancel their march, reports Info-Prim Neo. Constantin Codreanu, representative of “Actiunea 2012”, told a press conference on Thursday, August 2, that 500 people will march on the streets of Balti with tricolor flags and messages of national unity. Codreanu said that the Balti authorities have created several obstacles in the planning and organization of the action. “Our Balti representative is going to court today, in order to obtain this right in the court room”, said Constantin Codreanu, who said that the Balti City Hall filed for the cancellation of the march with a court. “Actiunea 2012” say that the same happened with the march planned for March 3, and the Law ruled for the unionists back then. Afterwards, they say, Communist authorities have resorted to physical threats and promises to bring wrongdoers to block the unionists’ access to the city. “Taking these threats into account, we ask the Ministry of the Interior to ensure our physical safety, our right to freedom of speech and pluralism of opinions”, said Claudia Iovita, another Actiunea 2012 member. The youth mentioned that the goal of this march, besides the promotion of unionist ideals, is to attract the public’s focus on the attempts of the Party of Communists Moldova, through separatist initiatives that follow the Transnistrian model. According to them, the Communists are experiencing the agony of a painful fall, and the mistakes they make in Chisinau and Balti are only accelerating this fall. Meanwhile, the unionists call the organizations that were against them until now to discussion, in order to reach mutual understanding, because “Actiunea 2012” is not a xenophobic one, and does not instigate to racial and national discrimination. They promise a peaceful march, and ask the participants to abstain from responding to potential provocations. Previously, “Actiunea 2012” had organized a march in Cahul, which had sparked some incidents, but the police managed to calm the situation down.
