UNITEM seeks monuments to Veniamin Apostol and Sandri Ion Scurea

The Theatrical Union of Moldova (UNITEM) says that two new monuments, to the famous Moldovan filmmakers Veniamin Apostol and Sandri Ion Scurea, should be erected in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. Veniamin Apostol and Sandri Ion Scurea, alongside other well-known theater people, deserve special attention, said the president elect of UNITEM Sandu Grecu, artistic director of “Satiricus Ion Luca Caragiale” Theater. “During many years, Veniamin Apostol had been president of UNITEM and rector of the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts. He is the founder of the Direction Department at the Academy. The play “Tata” (“Father”) by Ion Druta directed by Veniamin Apostol and Dumitru Matcovschi was a memorable occasion for the theatrical movement in Moldova, Sandu Grecu said. Speaking about Sandri Ion Scurea, the president of UNITEM said that he formed part of the golden generation of the Moldovan theater and was the founder of “Luceafarul” Theater. The project costs and implementation terms are being discussed.
