The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will continue to finance agricultural projects in Moldova. A new joint project entitled Rural Resilience Project is to be implemented in 2017- 2020. At the first stage, the assistance will total US$24 million. The subject was discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a meeting with an IFAD delegation led by Country Program Manager for Moldova Dina Saleh, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the assistance will be used to improve agricultural enterprises’ capacities to adapt to climate change, with emphasis on the development of business through their modernization and extension of access to financing and export markets.

The IFAD representatives said the Republic of Moldova is a partner who uses efficiently the assistance provided by the Fund and contributes own resources to implementing common projects. These spoke about a number of functionality-related problems identified in the process of implementing projects in the country. The Premier assured that the Government will take measures to find solutions to the given problems.

Starting with 2000, when the IFAD Representative Office was opened in the country, Moldova received over US$100 million in assistance for different projects implemented in agriculture.
