Famous American women’s soccer coaches Anson Dorrance and Chris Ducar are in Moldova during the period of 4–11 May 2008 to train the Moldovan women football Under–17 and Under–19 teams, the U.S. Embassy said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The American coaches are conducting a 6-day football clinic at the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) national teams’ training base in Vadul lui Voda. The training program will be concluded with an exhibition game featuring the two teams on May 10.
It is said the clinic will help make the Moldovan women's soccer program more internationally competitive, and provide hope and inspiration to more young athletes.
The United States is a world leader in competitive women’s association football, and the visiting coaches have an excellent record of training girls’ soccer teams, the press release adds. The visit is part of the U.S. Embassy’s Sports Diplomacy Program, which is aimed at establishing new ties between the peoples of the United States and Moldova.
