U.S. Congress debates foreign policy in relation to Moldova

“The next days are very important for our region given the debates on the foreign policy of the U.S. and it is essential for Moldova to be represented at this debates,” said the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat, who will pay a visit to the United States, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the PLDM, Vlad Filat will make a short visit to Washington on September 18, at the invitation of the United States House of Representatives. He will take part in the Join Session of the Congress centering on the situation in Ukraine and will have meetings with a number of officials, including Senators John McCain and Ben Cardin.

The leader of the PLDM underlined that the partnership and support of the U.S. will be essential for the next steps that Moldova will take on its path to the EU. “The PLDM strongly believes in the European future of Moldova and it is important that this process should continue in the electoral period that just started,” he stated.

Within the visit paid to the U.S. on May 18-24, Vlad Filat met with representatives of the U.S. administration, congressmen and senators, representatives of the Moldovan diaspora and others.
