U.S. Ambassador William Moser Tuesday presented the IT equipment that will be donated to Moldovan judges for recording hearings through a USAID program. The value of the donation is over US$300,000, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Justice.
Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said the U.S. Embassy is a key partner that supported Moldova in the process of promoting the anti-corruption legislative initiatives needed to continue the fight against this phenomenon. The minister expressed his conviction that the donated equipment will increase the efficiency and transparency of the work of the courts of law, which will contribute to a better people’s perception of the legal system.
The justice sector reform strategy envisions the development of an e-Justice system by using the system for arbitrarily distributing cases and by the audio recoding of hearings.
The USAID’s four-year Rule of Law Institutional Strengthening Program aims to offer technical assistance for strengthening the competences and improving transparency at the main judicial institutions.
