The Government of Moldova and the U.S. Embassy Monday signed Amendment No. 10 to the Letter of Agreement on Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement. This document will provide over $1 million in assistance to combat corruption, trafficking in human beings and money laundering in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the money will be used to reform the legal system. “The reform of justice is one of the priorities of the Government. This agreement comes to support the reforms projected to be implemented in this field,” he said.
U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau Asif J. Chaudhry said that this amendment will support the law enforcement bodies and the police. “We plan a series of training courses that will enable representatives of the law enforcement bodies to improve their abilities to investigate offenses,” he said.
The projects financed with these funds will be implemented during a year and will contribute to the continuous formation of the representatives of the law community and law enforcement bodies of Moldova.
