US$5m to be invested in social assistance information system

The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family got a US$5 million loan from the World Bank for modernizing the social assistance information system, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The money will be used to create a consolidated database on all the social benefits and to buy computers and organize training seminars on how to use the system for the Ministry's management team, IT specialists and end-users, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said in a conference held to present the modernization project.
The project is aimed at creating an efficient working instrument so that the social workers easier identify poor persons and possess the information needed in taking decisions as regards the allocation of benefits and the provision of social services.
The project is financed by the World Bank under an agreement signed by Moldova and the Intentional Development Association. It will be implemented during 2011-2012.
