Moldovan filmmaker Valeriu Jereghi was the guest of honor of the first International Children’s Film and Book Festival of Romania. He was designated as founding member of the festival. When back in the country, Valeriu Jereghi has told Info-Prim Neo that this invitation was an honor for him.
The festival took place in Romania’s Slatina during June 1-5. The movie “Arrivederci”, directed by Jereghi, was screened in the end of the festival. The filmmaker was awarded a diploma titled “Excellence of Cinematographic Creation”.
“I was honored to be invited as a founding member to this wonderful international festival. I came back with new invitations to a number of European countries, where I must go with the movie “Arrivederci”,“ said Valeriu Jereghi.
In another development, Valeriu Jereghi said the Filmmakers Union of Moldova does not fulfill its role of supporter of the national cinematography.
“The Moldovan filmmakers have to establish relations with foreign producers by themselves. Virgil Margineanu for example works by himself, looks for contacts and makes movies. Veaceslav Cojocaru, Sergiu Prodan do the same. We are not supported and are forced to do so,” said Valeriu Jereghi.
Valeriu Jereghi worked at “Moldova-Film” Studio and studios in Yugoslavia, Romania, Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, RTR “K-2”, and TRI-TA (Nikita Mihalkov). He became a member of the Filmmakers Union in 1978. His most recent film is “Arrivederci”.
