The Democratic Party (PDM) controls all the state institutions and uses the administrative resources to definitively destroy the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the acting chairman of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet stated in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“The PDM fully controls Parliament, the Government, the prosecution service, the justice sector and at least 70% of the mass media. They came to power not by democratic ways, but by different blackmailing schemes,” said Strelet.
The Liberal-Democratic heavyweight also said that now the PDM uses the power it has to definitively destroy the PLDM. “Many of the mayors and councilors of the PLDM are threatened and blackmailed. The starting of criminal cases is the most widely spread form of blackmail. A count is invented and a criminal case is started. Afterward, in elections, the mayor is threatened that if he does not secure 700 votes for the PDM, the criminal case will be examined. Many defect from the PLDM to the PDM also under the pressure of blackmail. Many of the local elected officials confirmed that they left the PLDM because they didn’t have another way out, but in reality remain faithful to the party. There could be persons who sincerely leave the PLDM, but it is a beneficial thing as the party will be cleaned this way,” he stated.
The acting chairman of the PLDM noted that both the PDM and PL insisted on the candidacy of Vladimir Plahotniuc for the premiership. “The head of state was visited by the ‘shock team’ of the PDM consisting of Marian Lupu, Andrian Candu, Dumitru Diacov and Vladimir Plahotniuc. The latter had a tête-à-tête with Nicolae Timofti and warned him that they have what to blackmail him with too. This team tried to convince us as well. I told them to be afraid of the people’s fury. Ghimpu told me not to care about the people and that Plahotniuc is the only candidate who can ensure stability, while Marian Lupu said that they do not have another candidate. The seven MPs of the PLDM were also blackmailed. They were ready to vote for Plahotniuc, but ultimately refused under the pressure of the people’s revolt,” said Strelet.
He expressed his optimism about the PLDM’s chances of returning to power. “I’m convinced that the PLDM will return to power. We have a lot of good people. The PLDM in essence consists of good people. Everything depends on our actions and our determination,” he stated.
