The Liberal Democratic Party will not take part in governance for the sake of participation or as an appendix to help achieve the objective of gaining full control of the government, the state institutions, the acting leader of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN.
“The profitability of taking part in governance can be probably calculated only by a party that is fully obsessed by power. We are governed by the principles of responsibility as we realize that those who threw the country into a political crisis were probably influenced by a kind of obsession, paranoia to fully control the situation and to fully subdue the Republic of Moldova. If we step aside, we will simply allow them to play their game. Most of our colleagues plead for active participation as an element for remedying the system, if it’s still possible. We will take a decision in a new meeting of the Council the coming days and will see what our colleagues say then,” stated the politician.
Valeriu Strelet said they agreed with the potential political partners that the PLDM will provide an answer as to its participation in governance by 1pm on January 8. For the Lib-Dems, it is important that the candidate for premiership should not be proposed by the PDM because the party control over many state institutions in Moldova led to a deplorable and devastating result. “If the Democratic Party holds also the post of Prime Minister, we will have reasonable motives to believe that fully subduing the Government too is the major goal,” he stated.
According to him, the PLDM has all the reasons to claim and obtain the right to propose the candidate for Prime Minister. As the Democrats assert that they need the PLDM in the government, they should allow the Lib-Dems to designate a candidate that will be able to form a functional government that will suggest solutions.
The representatives of the PLDM, PDM, PL and the group of unaffiliated MPs led by Iurie Leanca already had the first round of talks. After the discussions, both the PLDM and PDM claimed the post of Prime Minister.
