Ion Druta, alias “Vanea Pisateli”, was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for organizing the kidnaping and murder of three men. The judgment was passed by the Chisinau Appeals Court, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The prosecutors proved that the culprit orchestrated a triple homicide committed in the winter of 2000.  The victims were shot dead, burned and then buried because they refused to share with Druta the money they earned from the sale of a stolen car.

The bodies of the three men were discovered in a wooded strip near the Chisinau-Hancesti road in 2008. In 2011, the Ialoveni Court acquitted the defendant for the reason that the deed didn’t contain the elements of a criminal offense.

The prosecutors challenged the court decision. After several years of hearings, retrials and judicial debates, the Appeals Court quashed the decision of the first court and condemned Ion Druga of the committed crimes. The decision is definitive, but can be yet appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice.

At the beginning of this year, “Vanea Pisateli” was sentenced to five years in jail for illegal sale of arms and munitions.
