Former Liberal-Democratic lawmaker Veaceslav Ionita was questioned by officers of the National Anticorruption Center within the criminal cases concerning the theft committed at Banca de Economii (BEM). After the questioning, Ionita said he considers that this case will be examined till the end as the political class realized that they can no longer play, IPN reports.

Veaceslav Ionita told the journalists that he provided new information based on which a new criminal case could be started. The former MP added that he has bad news for those from the company Caravita, about which he said that it was directly involved in the theft at the BEM. According to him, the representatives of this company will be soon summoned to court. “There are enough proofs not only concerning the company, but also those who are behind it. They started to attack my relatives and I advise them to stop. Today I understood that they took into account all the proofs I provided. I thus believe that this case will be brought to an end,” he stated.

He noted that he described the scheme by which the money stolen from the BEM was taken out of the country and then, by money laundering schemes, was brought back and the final beneficiary Caravita, with the person who is behind this company, tried to get this money by illegal methods.

The National Anticorruption Center started two criminal cases over the theft committed at the BEM. Two persons were arrested, while others were questioned, including businessman Ilan Shor, who is investigated as a suspect.
