Seven MPs from the four parliamentary groups will form a special committee that will verify the income and assets declarations of the head and members of the National Integrity Commission (CNI). The proposal was put forward by Liberal MP Victor Popa, Info-Prim Neo reports.
With the proposal approved by the parliamentary Legal Commission, the Standing Bureau is now to nominate the members and submit the candidatures to Parliament for endorsement.
Under to the proposal, the Communists will have 3 representatives, the Liberal-Democrats 2, and the Liberals and Democrats will have one representative each. Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu expects the members of the special committee to be approved by Parliament this week.
The National Integrity Commission is an organization founded by Parlianent to check the assets and conflicts of interest of dignitaries, judges, prosecutors, civil servants and heads of institutions. The CNI is formed of 5 members, with four representing parliamentary groups and another one representing civil society. The latter member, Cristina Cojocaru, residgned and a replacement hasn’t been picked yet.
