Tens of veterans have protested in front of the State Residence in Condriţa where President Igor Dodon and the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky had a meeting on July 28. They chanted “Traitor”, “Dodon in Jail” and “Judah”, IPN reports.

Veteran Anatol Macovei said the veterans consider the meeting of the two is defiance. “We must unite, mobilize and protest against all the wrongdoings committed by this rascal and his allies,” he urged.

His mother Ana Macovei expressed her indignation at the authorities’ attitude to the veterans. “I experienced many distresses. He was at war and I was fighting home. Only those who didn’t experience something like this don’t know how the war in Transnistria was like,” said the woman, noting the veterans are treated disrespectfully and Igor Doodn should be treated similarly.

Another protester said the veterans fought for the country and will continue to fight for it. “We will take again the arms in our hands, if need be, and will fight for this land and for the future of our children who left the country and of our grandchildren who weren’t yet born,” he stated.

At the meeting in Condrița, Vadim Krasnoselsky and Igor Dodon discussed the implementation of the “Berlin-Plus” package. They also exchanged opinions about the problems that appeared during the past few months following the spread of COVID-19. Among other subjects discussed were the removal of the sanitary posts in the Security Zone and actions to ensure the free movement and to defend the human rights and freedoms.

The veterans and the opposition criticized President Dodon for the fact that he treated the Transnistrian leader as an equal, calling him “president”. The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” filed a denouncement to the Prosecutor General’s Office in connection with the meeting of the two.
