The victims of domestic violence will be exempted from paying the state tax in civil lawsuits to seek pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages. The Cabinet approved relevant amendments to a series of legal acts, such as the Penal Procedure Code and the Law on the State Tax, IPN reports.
Other changes provide that the state tax for lawsuits concerning patrimonial cases will represent 3% of the value of the civil claim.
Now there are two types of taxes – a fixed one to the value of 200 lei and another one of 3% of the value of the civil suit. But the legislation does not divide the economic situations from the patrimonial ones, which are also economic in character. This leads to misinterpretations. It was thus specified that the tax for filing a lawsuit concerning economic disputes, including patrimonial ones, will represent 3% of the value of the civil claim.
The bill is to be examined and passed by Parliament.
