Social Democratic Party leader Victor Shelin is accusing Socialist leader Igor Dodon of being to blame for the fact that some Moldovans are not able to return to their jobs in Russia.

Speaking at a talk-show on Realitatea TV, Shelin said many Moldovans working in Russia fell into a trap because of Dodon. “The Federal Migration Service, based on an understanding with Dodon, encouraged the Moldovans working in Russia to return to Moldova (in time for the parliamentary election) with the promise that they would be able to come back to Russia afterward. But the promise was not kept. By doing this, the Russian Migration Service has compromised not just its reputation but also of other state institutions, and Igor Dodon, after entering the Parliament, has failed to intervene to make sure the promise is respected. He doesn't give a damn about those who voted for him anymore”, said Shelin.

The politician thinks many of the Socialist deputies will defect from Dodon. “Dodon entered the Parliament owing to the fact that Patria Party had been ordered out of the race as well as due to big pots of money. But eventually Dodon will remain with less than a half of the 25 deputies. They will betray his party just like he betrayed the Communists once. Because some Socialists were included in the list by chance, just because they wanted to get there”, said Shelin.

On a different note, Shelin explained the failure of the Moldova-Customs Union bloc, which he co-founded, to clear the electoral threshold by claiming the election was rigged. “If we analyze the results, we can see that we lost massively only in those areas that were governed by the representatives of the three pro-European parties. We lost there because the ballots were replaced. Its a classic example of electoral fraud that is commonly used everywhere from Russia to Europe”, said Shelin.

Recently, Victor Shelin was denied entry into Russia at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, an incident he also blamed on Igor Dodon.
