A musical performance under the verses of Grigore Vieru and an exhibition of books, pictures and portraits of the poet continued the activities held as part of the festival in memory of the bard, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Grigore Vieru’s verses can be expressed better only through songs,” said Daniel Corbu, writer from Iasi. Friends and readers recited poems and sang songs written under the verses of Vieru. Among the performers were tenor Mihai Munteanu, the ethno-folkloric group “Mostenitorii” and the epic-ethno-folkloric theater Ion Creanga. An exhibition of Grigore Vieru’s books was set up in the hall of the Writers Union. The books included his last volume for children “Bread and Dew”. There was also presented a book about the poet written by priest Mihai Milea from Buzau - “Grigore Vieru – the Luminary from over the Prut”. “In a very short period of time, our friend, priest Milea wrote this book for those who want to know more about Grigore Vieru’s life. The poet had always had a biblical language. That’s why the book is fully typical of him,” said Mihai Salcutan, the vice president of the Union of Epigramists of Romania. The bard’s wife Larisa Vieru thanked everyone for taking part in the festival. The International Poetry Festival Grigore Vieru started in Chisinau (October 9 and 10) and will continue in Iasi (October 11 and 12). It will bring together more than 60 participants. “As it is well-known, Iasi is the second ancestral town of Grigore Vieru. Therefore, the festival will continue in Iasi on Sunday and Monday,” said Daniel Corbu, a friend of the late poet. A symposium themed "Grigore Vieru – Poet of the Romanian Area” takes place in Chisinau on Saturday, October 10.
