A man aged 55 was rushed to the hospital with injuries after the car in which he travelled was struck violently by a freight train not far from the Cimislia station at about 5am on August 28, IPN reports.
According to preliminary reports, the car driver violated the road traffic regulations and didn’t make sure it is safe before crossing the railroad. The state-run Moldova’s Railways said the warning and lighting systems were functional, but the motorist ignored the signaling.
The company calls on the drivers to respect the road traffic regulations and to be cautious when crossing railroads, especially because railway traffic has intensified compared with the corresponding period last year.
