Vlad Filat is the real owner of “Caravita Co” SRL and SRL “Business Estate Investments” and the one who benefitted from all the patrimonial advantages of these companies. This is what resulted from the statements made by these companies’ manager Ion Rusu in a hearing, anticorruption prosecutor Andriana Betisor told the press, being quoted by IPN.
The prosecutor said that Ion Rusu made a number of statements in the hearing. There were elucidated important tangential aspects for clarifying the set of the investigated causes. Ion Rusu is accused of money laundering that caused considerable damage to Banca de Economii. He faces five to ten years in jail, but he admitted his guilt and his jail term could be cut.
Four persons from the administration of “Caravita” were arrested in July on suspicion of money laundering by which significant damage was caused to Banca de Economii. Ion Rusu and the second manager of “Caravita” Igor Chijov as well as the company’s financial director Tatiana Rosioru are under arrest, while the founder of “Caravita” Vladimir Rusu, who is Ion Rusu’s son, was placed under house arrest after his father took the blame on him.
