Premier Vlad Filat leveled criticism at the administration of the Ministry of the Interior at Saturday’s meeting of the institution’s Board. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that such cases as the April violent protests and the October 15 grenade explosion remain unsolved, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I’m not dissatisfied with the work of the Ministry. The Government made effort to allocate money for making the Ministry’s work more efficient so that all the institution’s employees fulfill their duties,” the Premier said.
Vlad Filat stressed that he expects concrete steps aimed at combating crime and determining the factors that lead to criminality.
He criticized both the work of the Ministry’s central apparatus and of its subdivisions. “You must make sure that every complaint from the citizens is being registered and examined so as to prevent the crime from penetrating deep into the society,” Filat said.
“Such serious offenses as the October 14 explosion, the break-ins at commercial banks and the murder of businessman Igor Basarab remain unsolved. I demand that you manifest greater responsibility in these cases. I want results, not theories and promises.”
The Premier also said that the investigations into the April 7, 2009 events must be completed. “We have a moral obligation to answer the questions put by the society and punish those to blame,” he stressed.
Filat said he assumed reasonability for the good functioning of the Ministry of the Interior and will not tolerate the non-fulfillment of the duties.
