Vlad Filat: If legislature is not convoked by Speaker, we will collect 34 signatures

Parliament is to hold an extraordinary session on January 22. Prime Minister Vlad Filat voiced hope that Speaker Marian Lupu will order convoking the legislative body. Otherwise, the Liberal-Democratic faction will collect 34 signatures that are needed to call a Parliament sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We will make sure that an extra parliamentary session of Parliament is convened on January 22 so as to constitute a commission of inquiry,” the Premier told the press, referring to the December 23 hunting in the Domneasca Forest that ended with the death of a man. The Premier stated that the legislature is to set up a commission of inquiry not with a view to dismissing somebody, but in order to assess the way an institution or another respected the law. “This means not only dismissals, but also penalties,” he said. Asked about the statements of “Moldsilva” director Ion Lupu, who said that the hunting was authorized, Vlad Filat said that he does not want to make polemics, but Ion Lupu will have to disuses this with the investigator. As to the participants in the hunting, the head of Government said that he has a list, but it is not confirmed officially. The Premier considers that the prosecutor’s refusal to make public the list of hunters is strange. The general public found out about the hunting in the Domneasca Forest two weeks after the incident, in a news conference called by a politician.
