Vlad Filat: I'm not a man of surprises

“I'm not a man of surprises,” Premier Vlad Filat said, responding to journalists' inquiries about the person who will replace Alexandru Tanase as Minister of Justice. “We are close to reaching a decision. The name of the candidate will be made public when time comes. You will be the first to find out. Please, do not hurry us up,” the Prime Minister told the reporters. In a TV program recently, Vlad Filat said the name of the new minister of justice will be made known on the afternoon of April 19, Info-Prim Neo reports. In another connection, the Premier said that a decision as regards the election of the head of state might be taken until the local elections. “We will expect the answer of the Constitutional Court to our inquiry and will see what the Venice Commission recommends. We must interpret Article 78 of the Constitution and other articles and laws that raise questions as regards the rerun presidential elections. We will decide what to do after the Constitutional Court provides an answer. It can happen by June 5 if the answer from the Venice Commission comes meanwhile,” Vlad Filat said. The Heads of Parliament have held the post of Acting President of Moldova since September 11, 2009.
