The list of candidates of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will be decided by the party, but the person who will top the list hasn’t been yet chosen, the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said in the program “In Depth” on Pro TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
According to Filat, there are yet people in the PLDM who believe that they should head the list, but this matter is in general something abstract. “These discussions do nothing but distract attention from really important things. The PLDM will propose a list of people with integrity who have the training needed for the electoral platform to be carried out,” he stated.
The Liberal-Democratic leader specified that the relations between him and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca are normal and correct. As to his going to Bucharest to support Prime Minister Victor Ponta in the presidential campaign, that decision was taken by the Premier. In the same connection, Filat noted that the PLDM will support the National Liberal Party’s candidate Klaus Iohannis because the PLDM is in the family of the European People’s Party of which the Romanian party forms part.
Speaking about the Constitutional Court’s negative appraisal of the PLDM-PLR initiative to hold a referendum on November 30, Vlad Filat described it as regrettable. “By such a decision, the Court showed that it is a political player, not an institution that must ensure equality,” he stated, adding that he will insist on this initiative after the parliamentary elections as well.
Also, the chairman of the PLDM categorically denied his involvement in the sale of the state-owned shareholding in Banca de Economii and the fact that he owns farmland.
