Prime Minister Vlad Filat met on Friday, August 24, with the Moldovan delegation to the Paralympic Games in London. He congratulates the athletes for their performances that earned them qualification to the Paralympics and wished them luck in the competitions, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communique from the Government.
“You are a live example of the folk wisdom, which says that only work yields results. You are those don’t look for excuses and fake pretexts to avoid work and I’m grateful for that. Regardless of the results you’ll obtain, you deserve all the support from the Moldovan Government”, said the Prime Minister.
The national delegation to the Paralympic Games consists of Vladimir Polcanov, chairman of the Moldovan Paralympic Committee, athletes Stefan Rosca and Larisa Marinenkov, coach Dumitru Prodan, head of the delegation, secretary of the National Paralympic Committee Alina Polcanov and doctor Grigore Stefanet.
Vladimir Polcanov thanked Vlad Filat for his support in training the athletes, especially for buying weights for powerlifting trainings. Meanwhile, coach Dumitru Prodan said he kept his word and qualified Stefan Rosca to the Paralympics.
The Moldovan Paralympic team will travel to London on August 25. The official opening will take place on August 29. Stefan Rosca and Larisa Marinenkov will enter the competition on September 3. The delegation will return to Moldova on September 12, after the Paralympics closing ceremony.
Moldova has been participating in the Paralympics since 1996, when the Games took place in Atlanta, USA and Vladimir Polcanov, currently chairman of Moldova’s Paralympic Committee, won bronze in table tennis.
