Romania’s President Traian Basescu welcomed the presence of Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat in Romania. The officials discussed the Transnistrian conflict settlement negotiations in the “5+2” format held in Moscow, the non-reimbursable financial assistance provided by Romania to Moldova and joint projects that are to be launched, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the executive, at the beginning of the meeting the delegations spoke about the necessity of launching new projects and realizing the potential existing between the two countries and about the political and economic situation. Traian Basescu greeted the decision to renew the formal talks in the “5+2” format that was taken in Moscow and voiced hope that they will produce results. The Romanian President also referred to the €100 million that the Government of Romania will provide to Moldova in support. In this connection, Vlad Filat said that in the meeting with Prime Minister Emil Boc, they agreed to hold a joint meeting of the Governments of the two countries to discuss the results achieved and the projects that will be launched in the future. “A project that we want to roll out soon is to provide the universities in Moldova with Internet connection and computers so that all the students have access to these services. We also plan to launch a project concerning distance learning,” said Vlad Filat. After the meeting of the delegations, Vlad Filat and Traian Basescu had a bilateral meeting where they conferred on the prospects of the Moldovan-Romanian relations.
