The chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat said his party can work in opposition as well. “We can cope with any situation. I really don’t want us to lose the values we obtained during two years,” Vlad Filat said in the program “Fabrica” on Publika TV, Info-Prim Neo reports.
He stressed that the situation inside the Alliance for European Integration is like going sledding. “Everyone goes joyful up and down, but when back the PLDM must pull the sled. Things are very simple. Sixty-one votes are needed to elect the head of state. The PLDM has only 31. We will vote for the AEI’s candidate,” said Vlad Filat.
He believes that the guarantees they demanded from the Democrats are absolutely normal. “I see no problem in telling publicly that they will not form an alliance with the Communists. We were among the few ones who fought against the Communists. We took no step that could bring the PCRM back to power. These guarantees have no legal basis. They are for the people,” underlined Vlad Filat.
He also said that the election of the head of state is important, but if the AEI does not fulfill what it promised, this election will be ineffective. “I also want to know if Marian Lupu indeed secured the 61 votes needed. I don’t like this secrecy,” stated the Premier.
The presidential elections will take place on December 16. The deadline for applications is December 13, 7pm. Only Marian Lupu has submitted the required documents to the special commission for the election of the President so far.
