Vlad Filat: Some focus on April 7 only before April 7

“I’m not the one who hires or promotes employees,” Premier Vlad Filat told the press when asked to comment on Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca’s statements that police officers who maltreated protesters in the Great National Assembly Square on April 7, 2009 were promoted and decorated, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I have nothing to comment. Some focus on April 7 only before April 7 or on April 7. If Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca makes an official request, he will receive an answer. No such application was submitted to the Government. It was probably filed to the Ministry of the Interior,” said the Mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca on April 4 said 30 police officers were decorated or promoted after April 7 while the Ministry of the Interior was headed by Ministers Gheorghe Papuc and Victor Catana and during the tenure of the current Minister Alexei Roibu. A list of 22 persons was later published on the Chisinau City Hall’s website.
